THREAD

Can I choose two different threads?

In order to ensure that you receive a professional quality product, we always use the same color thread on the top of the quilt and in the bobbin (on the back of the quilt). This helps avoid tension issues that can sometimes be caused by using two different threads. When two threads are used, there is no way to guarantee that only one color shows on each side of the quilt.

Can I have monofilament polyester or invisible thread?

We do not provide a monofilament polyester or invisible thread. We use high quality Superior So-Fine! #50 thread. This thread is a lint-free, matte-finish, smooth #50/3 filament polyester thread. Due to its fine nature, So Fine! #50 is an excellent blending thread and is a favorite of longarm quilters.

I would like a different thread color than the choices you have listed. Is that an option?

We have a wide variety of thread color choices available. If you choose green as your thread color family, for example, we will select many green thread options, lay them on the quilt top, and see which blends the best. It is important to us that your piecing is the highlight of your project, not necessarily the quilting. Unless you would like the thread to stand out, we try to blend the thread color to make it as unnoticeable as possible. If you have a more specific request for your thread color, please include it in the comments section when placing your order.

SPECIAL QUILT DESIGN ELEMENTS

I have a block/border that I do not want to be quilted. Can you not quilt that area?

Not quilting blocks or borders falls into the “custom quilting” category, which Quilting By Mail is not able to offer. We provide edge to edge quilting services, where the same pattern will be used from top to bottom, left to right, across the entire quilt.

I want my quilt to have prairie points. Do I need to add them before it is quilted?

Any prairie points that are attached prior to quilting will be stitched down using our edge to edge quilting method. We can not quilt around them.

My quilt has open/pocketed flying geese units. Will you quilt around them?

Open/pocketed flying geese will be stitched down using our edge to edge quilting method. We do not quilt around them.

My quilt has a flanged border on it. Will you quilt around it so that it remains free?

Flanged borders will be stitched down using our edge to edge quilting method. We do not quilt around them.

My quilt has some applique and rick rack on it. Will you quilt around the applique and rick rack?

Applique pieces and rick rack will be stitched over using our edge to edge quilting method. We do not quilt around them.

I want to add embellishments to my quilt. Can I add the embellishments before it is quilted?

We ask that you do not add embellishments to your quilt before it is quilted. If a quilt arrives to be quilted with embellishments we will be unable to quilt it.

FINISHING ELEMENTS

Can I send my own batting?

In order to help ensure that you receive a professional, consistent product, we are unable to accept batting from you. The batting that we supply is included in the price for quilting services. We use only Quilters Dream Batting, which is a premium quality quilt batting that provides warmth, drape, definition, and support to your quilt for many years to come. It is made with pride in the United States of America.

I have a label for my quilt. Will you attach it for me if I send it?

We currently do not offer the service of attaching labels to quilts. We may consider it in the future.
